Terms of service
The terms for using freehold.software and the Mortar systems Freehold runs for its clients.
Who we are
These terms are between you and Freehold Software Solutions LLC ("Freehold", "we"), Charlottesville, Virginia. Contact: [email protected].
The services
Freehold builds and operates Mortar instances. Each one is a private system for a specific household or organization, together with the apps connected to it. An instance is available only to people its owner invites; there is no public sign-up. A written agreement with Freehold, if there is one, takes precedence over these terms where the two differ.
Your data
Your data stays yours. We use it only to provide the features you ask for, as described in our privacy policy. You can revoke any access you've granted at any time.
Acceptable use
Don't use the services to break the law, to harm others, to send spam, or to try to get into data or systems you aren't allowed to access. Keep your sign-in to yourself.
AI assistance
Mortar works with AI assistants. AI can be wrong. Review summaries, drafts and suggestions before you rely on them. Mail is sent only after you approve the exact message, and you are responsible for what you approve.
Availability and changes
We work to keep instances running and backed up, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. We may change or retire features. When we do, we'll tell the owners of affected instances.
Disclaimers
The services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Freehold is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue. Freehold's total liability for any claim about the services is limited to the amount you paid Freehold for them in the twelve months before the claim.
Ending use
You can stop using the services at any time. We may suspend access that breaks these terms. When an instance is shut down, we return or delete its data as its owner directs.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Changes
If these terms change, we will update this page and its effective date. We will tell the owners of affected instances about any material change.
